Founder & Therapist
A Grounded, Relational Approach to Therapy
Brian is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who believes therapy works best when it feels real, relational, and grounded in everyday life. He works with people who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected—often carrying a lot internally while trying to keep things together on the outside. Many clients come to Brian looking for a space that feels steady, respectful, and human, where they can talk openly and work toward meaningful change.
Brian’s approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and straightforward. He values honest conversation over clinical jargon and believes therapy should feel supportive, practical, and purposeful. He works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, ADHD, co-occurring disorders, and relationship challenges, helping them build insight, resilience, and skills they can actually use in their daily lives. He has advanced training in resilience, EMDR, somatic work, ADHD, the Gottman Method, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), and is a Certified Trauma Professional and Certified Anxiety Management Professional.
Brian has extensive experience across clinical and supervisory roles. He has served as a PACT Team Lead and PACT Program Supervisor, a CSCT Therapist, a therapist at a therapeutic boarding school, a behavioral specialist working with children on the autism spectrum, a group home supervisor, and an adult foster care program supervisor. These roles have given him deep insight into working with diverse populations and complex clinical needs.
Family and connection are important parts of Brian’s life and values. He is a husband and father of two, and his wife is also the office administrator for the practice. Together, they started Camp Creek Counseling in August 2020—the same month his first child was born, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic—creating a family-centered, client-focused practice from the ground up. Having a family-run practice allows Brian to focus fully on the clinical work while knowing clients are supported with clear communication and thoughtful attention behind the scenes.
Outside the therapy office, Brian spends as much time as he can outdoors camping, hunting, hiking, and fishing. He also enjoys working with plants and being connected to the natural world, reflecting his belief in growth, patience, and staying grounded—both personally and in therapy.
Brian works best with people who value authenticity and are willing to show up honestly, even when it’s hard. He aims to provide a space where clients feel safe, respected, and supported as they work toward a life that feels more balanced and meaningful. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, and a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis with concentrations in Nonprofit Organizational Management and Social Entrepreneurship, graduating in 2016. His combined clinical expertise, leadership experience, and commitment to family and community inform every aspect of his practice.

Clinical Approach
Brian’s clinical approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. Therapy is grounded in evidence-based methods while remaining flexible to each client’s goals, pace, and lived experience. Sessions emphasize honest conversation, emotional awareness, and real-world application rather than rigid protocols or excessive clinical language.
Treatment may integrate cognitive, relational, somatic, and trauma-informed techniques depending on client needs. The focus is on building insight, strengthening regulation, and developing skills that support lasting change beyond the therapy room. Therapy is viewed as a shared process, where progress is shaped through consistency, reflection, and mutual accountability.
Who We Work With
Camp Creek Counseling works best with individuals and couples who value authenticity and are willing to engage honestly in the therapeutic process. Many clients come in feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or worn down by anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, ADHD, addiction, or long-standing emotional patterns. Therapy is well suited for those who want a supportive, steady space to slow down, reflect, and make practical changes over time.
Brian works with clients who appreciate a straightforward, respectful approach and are open to building insight, resilience, and skills they can apply in daily life. Whether you are navigating a specific challenge or a more general sense that something needs to change, therapy is approached collaboratively, without judgment or pressure.

Alma is the heart of Camp Creek Counseling’s office. She manages the day-to-day operations with care and precision, keeping the practice organized and running smoothly while balancing the ever-changing needs of clients and staff. She is married to Brian and a proud mother of two. Their daughter is in elementary school, and Alma loves being involved in the classroom when asked and helping with homework.
